Sometimes I just can't get a design out of my head. I think about how interesting it would be to make something and I just keep going over it and over it. In the end its probably healthier just to make it. Such was the case with the angler.
After making a few basic sketches I had a general idea of the shape so I decided to create a steel rod framework for the body. After welding that together I chose to skin the framework with hand sheared sheet metal strips. I started around the jawline and mouth.
Once the jaw line was assembled I worked backwards along the body to finish the first layer of skinning.
Once the body was fully covered I moved on to texturing the body lines.
Not quite done yet but I'll let it sit for a month or two and finish up.
